K-T Impact Glass

The map below graphically illustrates that diagenetically altered glass spherules found in Alabama, the Gulf of Mexico, Haiti, northeastern Mexico, New Jersey, Texas and other locations may have a common origin.  It is obvious they all lie within tolerable distances of a wide debris field the line on the map only represents.

The Beloc sediments containing KT impact glass (SRD layer) is followed by a Pd-dominated PGE anomaly of a basaltic type.  Since basalt is a major constitute of the earth's crust, it is consistent with other evidence that sea regression was brought about from an emptying of lava from beneath the ocean via a massive tectonic and orogenic event along the Gulf Coast.

The reworked megatsunami deposits found in Blize, Cuba, Guatemala and southern Mexico lie within the same debris field but were obviously altered at a later date by the Chicxulub impact.
