Diamonds
Diamonds have long been associated with impact sites and may be so plentiful they can be mined for profit. They rarely obtain sizes over three carats. It is far more common to find micro diamonds at impact sites than larger stones and the Sylacauga Astrobleme is not an exception.
The Leeds-Moody area of central Alabama has produced yellow and green diamonds up to 4.8 carats but it is not known if they are in any way connected to this atrobleme.
Micro diamonds are exceptionally hard to photograph due to the reflexion created by the silvery coating but due to their degree of hardness do not attract find dust particles.
The stone shown above is green in color, highly reflective and displays the rounded edges so comon to larger stones although it is not reflected in the poor quality photography.
